Super Eagles trio of Brighton defender, Leon Balogun, Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Torino full back Ola Aina will add certainty to the Nigerian team as they head into battle against Libya.

Iwobi’s creative and pace in midfield is always missed whenever he is out of the team and his current form for the Gunners have shown that he is more matured and can handle pressure and not cave like we saw at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Balogun has started just one game for Brighton in the premier league and that was in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield but held his own against Mohammed Salah, Saido Mane and Roberto Firmino. He was also outstanding on his premier league debut in the victory over Manchester United and will add that confidence and leadership in the Eagles backline.

Aina just switch league, from premier league side Chelsea to Serie A club, Torino but seems to be enjoying life at the team that had Joe Hart on loan last season. He is expected to add energy to the Eagles team against Libya and burn a lot of pace down the flanks.

The trio arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja ahead of the AFCON double-header against Libya this morning.

As usual, Alex’s father Chuka Iwobi, came along his son on a British Airways flight by 5am and were welcomed by family friend, Austel Elumelu, a former member of NFF Technical Committee, from where they proceed on another flight to Uyo by 9.30am.

The trio will be the first set of Eagles at the Ibom Hotel(Le Meridien), Uyo. The camp opened yesterday and the team have lined up open training for today, Wednesday but the Thursday and Friday sessions will be closed with only 15minutes filming period allowed.

Nigeria currently trail Libya by a point in Group E and must beat the Mediterranean Knights in both matches to stand a chance of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.

Iwobi and Aina were not part of the win over Seychelles due to illness and injury respectively but Balogun featured without his preferred partner at the back Williams Troost-Ekong, who is in line to return to the starting line-up against Libya on Saturday.

More players are expected to arrive camp today as Coach Gernot Rohr prepares to drill home his tactics for the all important clash in Uyo and Tunisia on October 13 and 16 respectively.
